HIV/AIDS POLICY
Phila Muntu Omnyama HIV/AIDS policy
Phila Muntu Omnyama HIV/AIDS policy is based upon a human rights foundation, which we believe is fundemental to an effective HIV/AIDS response and supports the key responses to epidemic , namely ,elimination of stigma and discrimination on the basis of real or perceived HIV status, prevention of new infections, care, support and treatment for employees and their dependants who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, community social investments and management and mitigation of the impact of HIV/AIDS.
•CONFIDENTIALITYHIV infected employees are not obliged to inform management , or any other person in the organisation of their HIV status. There is no justification for asking job applicants to disclose HIV related personal information. No employees are obliged to reveal such personal information to fellow employees.
•Phila Muntu Omnyama does not tolerate any form of unfair discrimination against those infected with HIV and takes all reasonable steps to respect their dignity and their individual human rights. All staff who know ( or think they know) an individual's HIV status are made aware of the requirement and responsibilities of the consequenses that could arise if this responsibility were disregarded.
•Phila Muntu Omnyama recognises that it takes courage for individuals to disclose their HIV positive status and such disclusure challenges the stigma associated with the epidemic. The NGO's encourage employees to be open about their HIV/AIDS status if they wish and takes all reasonable steps to ensure that such employees are not unfairly discriminated against or stigmatised and that they have access to appropriate conselling and support.•Phila Muntu Omnyama recognises that women are more likely to become infected and are more often adversely effected by HIV/AIDS epidemic than men due to biological ,socio-cultural and economic reasons. Phila Muntu Omnyama strives to equalise gender relations, recognising that the empowerment of women is vital to successfully prevent the spread of HIV infection and enable women to cope with HIV/AIDS.
•Phila Muntu Omnyama strives to form alliances and build partnerships in order to develop a common vision and shared strategy with all stakeholders.
•Applicants for employment, for any occupation or position are required to pass a standard pre- placement medical examination. This does not include an HIV test , nor indirect screening methods, such as questions in verbal or written form about previous HIV test and or questions related to assessment of HIV risk behavior. The only health -related criterion for employing an individual is the person's fitness to perform the work offered.
•HIV CONSELLING AND TESTING
Phila Muntu Omnyama encourages all employees, particularly those living in countries with a high burden of HIV infection, to undergo counselling and voluntary HIV testing. We believe that counselling and testing for HIV is a critical intervation that helps to link care support for those with HIV infection to our broader prevention programmes aimed at turning the tide of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. No employee is forced to undergo HIV testing. Phila Muntu Omnyama supports the principle of provider initiated HIV testing as an important way to scale up testing in coutries with high burden of HIV.
•Phila Muntu Omnyama provides information about benefit programs available to employees, family members and community with HIV and meets the standards of the Affordable care Act.
•Promote HIV prevation and understanding through employee education.
•Instructs managers and supervisors on how to address HIV and related workplace discrimination.
•Sets the standard of behaviour and communication about HIV expected of staff.
•Informs staff on where to go for assistance and additional information.

NGO's ONLINE REPUTATION MANAGEMENT STRATEGY
Ways in which our NGO Phila Muntu Omnyama deals with online reputation management

• Prepare a crisis plan. We always have a plan ready to put into action in case of crisis, which can also be changed under different and unique circumstances
• Train employees in media engagement. Since sometimes the appointed person might not have all the answers, employees are also trained to respond to quries about the programs and online learning.
• Monitor the stakeholder's opinions and queries
• Form good relationships with Journalists so we could provide information easily in times of crisis and also help grow the organisation
• Broaden the internet presence
• Grow the online visibility
